Did you know?
- A mosquito can see its target from 18 feet away
- Only female mosquitoes bite
- A mosquito will target an uncovered area as small as a dime
- Mosquitoes are 500 times more active in the dawn and evening hours
So how do you protect yourself, your loved ones, and even your pets from an insect that kills over 240 million people a year due to the spread of diseases such as:
- West Nile Virus
- The most common mosquito-borne disease in the United States today, made its way to New York City in 1999
- The virus itself causes severe human meningitis or encephalitis
- Malaria
- One of the most widespread diseases in the world that mosquitoes carry
- Infects 300-500 million people each year
- Once infected, the symptoms include anemia, fever, chills, nausea, and flu-like illness and in some cases coma or even death
- Heartworm
- Dogs and cats are infected by this disease via a type of roundworm through the bite of a mosquito carrying the larvae of the worm
- Once a dog or cat is infected with the roundworm through a mosquito bite, the worms burrow into the skin and eventually to the animals heart
- Cures can be risky and expensive
